Well, on the 6th of December, at approximately 10.30pm, i dropped my lovely Rachel off at my place and then headed on down to Chadstone shopping center for the launch of Nintendos Wii and also pick up my pre-ordered unit. To be honest, though I had been hanging out for the Wii for quite some time, if there had been a more convenient time for me to pick it up, i probably wouldnt have gone then. However, due to work, and study, it was pretty much the only time I had available to go get it. So into the queue i go, and wait…
The official start time of sales was midnight, i managed to get mine at 1.20am, and then back home. Unfortunately at the time i also had my final assignment for my postgrad management studies due on the friday so i made a commitment to myself not to open the boxes until I had gotten around to submitting my assignment. Submitted the assignment late friday afternoon, so friday night, finally deboxed it. Also friday evening purchased Rayman Raving Rabids and Monkeyball to add to my initail purchase of wii play and zelda.
I didnt actually play too much on Friday, i was tired, it had been a long week, so i spent about 10 minutes creating a mii, then spent about 30 minutes playing Wii Sports and Wii Play. Much fun, but as i said i was tired. Saturday had a bunch of friends over and much merriment was had playing Wii Sports. As Nintendo claims, the Wii really is an inclusive console. One of my friends bought over 2 of his controls, so at one point there was actually 4 people playing tennis all at once. I think my favourite Wii Sports game is boxing. It is incredibly like real boxing training, and when playing doubles, you need to keep your guard up and dodge just like real sparring.
Sunday I started to get into Rayman, it is hilarious, but can seriously make your arms sore. Havent played much of Monkeyball yet, and am yet to even unpack Zelda. Will most likely start getting into that this weekend. All in all, I really like the console, and expect to have a large amount of fun with it.
