SLAB!!

Wooohooo!!!!!

A drive down to the new estate on saturday reveals many busy workmen on-site building the new Chateau Raph. A foundation slab is clearly visible, and there was a man on top of it with what appeared to be some sort of buffing machine, smoothing it down before the rest gets laid. This is a very exciting development. From slab to lockup seems to take these guys a matter of weeks, not a matter of months, so at the rate they are going, the house may even be up by Christmas. Though to be honest, I would rather it gets done sometime late January or early February as around Christmas time, work gets a little too busy.

Its actually very impressive to see how fast they work on a house. 3 weekends ago, we went for a drive down there and the land had just been cleared. 2 weekends ago, there was a electric box and a gas pipe. last weekend there was an excavator, a portaloo and a man who could be seen from the neck up in a trench. This past week, slab! Next week, I imagine the frame may already be up. We shall see.

Uncle Shraga you will be missed.

My uncle Shraga passed away today in Israel. He had been unconscious for nearly 3 months, and before that, had been in a vegetative state for several years. Before that, he was truly one of the most vital and vibrant men I have ever had the pleasure to know in my lifetime. His presence was always larger than life, and he was totally committed to all his friends and family.

So strong was the bond between him and my aunty that she has unwaveringly been at his side all this time. The love they shared was immense.

I know, intellectually that given the circumstances, his passing is for the best for him, and my aunty, but I cannot help feeling sad at the final loss of this man.

May whatever deities that are out there take care of your soul.

You will be missed.
